E. Richard White

E. Richard White received his BSAE degree from WVU in 1972, and has continued his education with technical and leadership courses throughout his career. Following graduation, he joined the aerodynamics department of Rockwell International’s Columbus Aircraft Division. His responsibilities included wind tunnel and CFD testing and analysis in support of V/STOL testing, and the design/development of jet flap, augmenter wing, and lift/cruise fan configurations.

From 1977 to 1986, Mr. White served as a Senior Specialist Engineer at PRC Kentron in Hampton, Virginia, where he developed several unique testing techniques and received the NASA Group Achievement Award for this effort. He was involved in the development of advanced aircraft configurations including the three-surface commuter, joined wing, and canard designs. He was co-inventor of a patented "Propeller-over-the-wing" concept for drag reduction of high performance commuter aircraft.

From 1986 to 1988 Mr. White was Program Manager for the Experimental Aeronautics Group of Dynamic Engineering Incorporated, where he developed flight data systems for flight-testing of unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). In 1988, Mr. White joined ViGYAN, Inc. in Hampton, VA. Where he is currently Vice President. He has served on the Old Dominion University Center for Experimental Aeronautics (CAE) Advisory Committee and the Norfolk State University Industry Committee. He was also ViGYAN Manager and Lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the NASA Engineering Safety Center (NESC) Academy. He is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA and serves on numerous technical committees of the AIAA. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Gamma Tau.
