Mark Colantonio received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from WVU in 1983. He received his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1986, where he graduated second in his law school class, was a member of the West Virginia Law Review, and earned the distinction of Order of the Coif. Mark currently practices with the Fitzsimmons Law Firm located in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Over the course of Mark’s 40 year career as a lawyer, he has obtained many multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements across numerous jurisdictions. He has handled numerous appeals before the West Virginia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Given his mechanical engineering background, Mark is often called upon to handle cases involving complex scientific issues, and to depose and cross-examine expert witnesses and corporate representatives at trial. He has extensive experience in complex litigation and class actions involving pharmaceutical drugs and devices, industrial accidents and explosions, commercial claims and product liability. Recently, Mark served as a key member of the trial team in the West Virginia opioid litigation, where he helped recover nearly $1 Billion for West Virginia to abate the opioid epidemic.

Mark has been consistently recognized by his peers as one of the preeminent attorneys in West Virginia, including regularly being recognized as a West Virginia Super Lawyer. Mark also authored a chapter in a published medical legal handbook. Mark lives in Weirton, WV with his wife and two children. His son is a physician currently performing a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. His daughter is a medical student at the West Virginia University School of Medicine
